Dating back to 1976, TJ Wassell Engineering Ltd has been producing exhaust system components for vintage British motorcycles employing traditional handmade methods used originally to maintain authenticity.

This set of silencers are affectionately known as “Peashooters” and were specified for the Norton Commando Roadster, Fastback, and Hi-Rider models from 1969-1974. Tapered to a long reverse cone and featuring an oversized 1-1/2″ inlet, the sleek appearance and free-flowing design complement the performance characteristics of the Norton Commando models fitted with aftermarket 1-1/2″ exhaust pipes. While the silencers are finished to a high standard, individually hand-crafted exhaust pipes and silencers may contain markings from manufacturing and there may be residual polish from the factory that can be buffed out to a high lustre.

Finished in chrome-plating, the silencers have an ID of 1-1/2″ and an overall length of approximately 27″ with integrated welded-on mounting bosses on the backside. Made in the UK by TJ Wassell.

The silencer inlets are fitted over the 1-1/2″ ends of the exhaust header pipes and secured with clamps. Norton Commando models use an intricate system of asymmetrical brackets and rubber mounting elastomers for fitting the silencers to the “Z” plates on each side of the frame.

It is advisable to loosely install exhaust system components to allow for alignment adjustments prior to tightening all related hardware. Consult the factory workshop for installation details.

Please note: Due to varying bans on the use of hexavalent chrome in the chroming process, this item will have varying appearance different than OEM standards. Chromers are frequently using trivalent in their processes. “It’s just not the same color. Hexavalent has that clear blue sheen, but trivalent is more grayish and smoky. Trivalent will not replace the look of hexavalent.”
