LF Harris: From Spares Dealer to Triumph Bonneville Maker
Les Harris (1939–2009) started his business in 1974, making and selling spare parts for classic motorcycles. As Norton, BSA and Triumph closed, he bought up as many spares as he could and set up L F Harris International Ltd in a warehouse in Newton Abbot, Devon (Wikipedia). The company’s own history gives 1973 as the year Les and Shirley Harris founded it as a wholesaler of BSA, Triumph and Norton spares (LF Harris history, via Rusty’s Motorcycle Barn). Under the name Racing Spares, Harris also made and supplied parts for the Meriden Triumph factory (Sump Magazine).
The Meriden Triumph co-operative collapsed in 1983. John Bloor bought the Triumph name and gave Harris a renewable five-year licence, starting on 28 November 1983, to build the 750cc Bonneville (Wikipedia). The first “Devon” Bonneville was sold in February 1985 and the last left the factory in March 1988 (LF Harris history). About 1,300 were built (Sump Magazine). They used more Italian and German parts than the Meriden bikes and were not sold in the US (Wikipedia: Triumph Bonneville). Harris also built single-carburetor TR7V Tigers, some for the Royal Signals White Helmets display team. Because of the Devon bikes, Triumph can claim continuous motorcycle production since 1902, bridging the gap before Triumph Motorcycles Ltd opened its Hinckley factory (LF Harris history).
In 1987 Harris launched a new Matchless G80 with a Rotax 500cc single-cylinder engine. Production ended by 1990 (Wikipedia: Matchless G80). See our AJS and Matchless parts.
After motorcycle production ended, LF Harris expanded its Newton Abbot works with automatic machines and tube benders. That let it make everything from nuts and bolts to most engine parts, plus its well-known handlebars and exhaust pipes. The company says it still uses tooling and dies bought from suppliers to the old Triumph factory. In 2008 it moved to Torquay. Les died in February 2009, and the company continues to make Triumph, BSA and Norton parts on CNC machinery (LF Harris history; LF Harris).

Correct Hardware and Threads
Much of the LF Harris range is hardware: bolts, nuts, studs, washers and screw sets in the original thread forms. Most pre-1969 British bikes use British Standard Cycle (CEI) threads, mostly 26 threads per inch. Later Triumphs and BSAs moved to the Unified (UNF/UNC) standard. Most of our hardware titles show the thread, such as “26 TPI CEI” or “UNF”. Read our guide The Nuts and Bolts of Hardware before you order. Shop all Triumph hardware, BSA hardware and Norton hardware.
How to Find the Right LF Harris Part
- Start with the part number. Most LF Harris listings show the original Triumph, BSA or Norton number, such as 70-9363 or 83-4772. Look yours up in a Triumph, BSA or Norton parts book. Our article The Case for the Parts Catalog explains why.
- Check the year and model. Exhausts, fork parts and brake parts often changed between years. For example, a 1969–70 T120 exhaust differs from a 1972 one.
- Use the categories, not just the grid. Only part of our LF Harris range appears above. Use the category links or Year/Make/Model search to see the rest.
- Ask us. If you can’t match a part, contact our team with your model, year and the part number.

LF Harris Parts FAQ
Who is LF Harris?
L F Harris (International) Ltd is a British maker and supplier of spare parts for classic Triumph, BSA and Norton motorcycles. Les Harris started the business in the 1970s in Newton Abbot, Devon. It has been based in Torquay, Devon, since 2008.
Are LF Harris parts made in the UK?
Many are. LF Harris makes a wide range in its own Devon works, from nuts and bolts to engine parts, handlebars and exhaust pipes. Many of our listings say “UK Made” in the title. Check each listing for the country of origin.
Did LF Harris build Triumph motorcycles?
Yes. Les Harris built the 750cc Triumph Bonneville under licence from John Bloor from 1985 to 1988, along with some TR7V Tigers. These are known as “Devon” or “Harris” Bonnevilles. About 1,300 were made.
Why can’t I see every LF Harris part on this page?
We stock more than 600 LF Harris parts, but the page grid shows 200. To see the rest, use the Triumph, BSA and Norton category links on this page or our Year/Make/Model search.
Which motorcycles do LF Harris parts fit?
Most fit classic Triumph twins, including the 350 and 500 unit twins, the 650 T120 Bonneville and TR6, and the 750 T140 and TR7. There are also parts for Triumph and BSA triples, the BSA A50 and A65, and the Norton Commando. Each listing shows the models, years and original part numbers.
What is the difference between CEI and UNF threads?
CEI, or British Standard Cycle, is the older British thread used on most pre-1969 bikes. UNF is the Unified Fine thread used on later Triumphs and BSAs. They are not interchangeable, so check the thread in the listing title before you order.
Are LF Harris exhaust pipes made with the original bends?
LF Harris bends its exhaust pipes in the UK and lists each set against the original part numbers and years. Fit can vary slightly on any reproduction pipe, so loosely fit all the brackets and clamps before tightening.
Do you sell Devon Bonneville parts?
Many T140 Bonneville parts also fit the Devon bikes, but those bikes used several Italian and German components. Contact us with your frame number and the part you need before ordering.
Can I order LF Harris parts that are not listed?
Ask us. Some items, such as cylinder heads, are already listed as special order. Contact our team with the part number.
Do you offer free shipping on LF Harris parts?
Yes. Orders ship free to the lower 48 US states. Weekday orders placed before noon Mountain Time ship the same day.
