Dating back to 1976, TJ Wassell Engineering Ltd has been producing exhaust system components for vintage British motorcycles employing traditional handmade methods used originally to maintain authenticity. This set of “push-over” unbalanced exhaust pipes were specified for the 1981-1982 Triumph 750 twins, with the flares to fit over exhaust port spigots. Not suitable for T140D models. While the exhaust pipes are finished to a high standard, individually hand-crafted pipes may contain markings from manufacturing and there may be residual polish from the factory that can be buffed out to a nice lustre.

Manufactured and chrome-plated in the UK, the OD of the flared cups measure 1-3/4″, with an ID of 1-5/8″ to fit over exhaust spigots. The terminus of the headers measure 1-3/8″ where the silencers are fitted. This set of exhaust pipes are not manufactured for use with a balance tube.

While this set of exhaust pipes were original fitment to the 1981-1982 T140E and TR7RV, they are commonly used on earlier Triumph 750 twins that have cylinder heads fitted with spigots to accept push-over exhaust headers. The original 1-3/8″ aluminum finned clips will not fit over the flared cups, so they will need to be replaced with 1-3/4″ clamps, as used on earlier 650 models.

The omission of the balance tube offers easier installation and produces a more audible exhaust note. It is recommended that the entire exhaust system is loosely fitted to allow for final alignment corrections prior to tightening up the fasteners.

Please note: Due to varying bans on the use of hexavalent chrome in the chroming process, this item will have varying appearance different than OEM standards. Chromers are frequently using trivalent in their processes. “It’s just not the same color. Hexavalent has that clear blue sheen, but trivalent is more grayish and smoky. Trivalent will not replace the look of hexavalent.”
