Dating back to 1976, TJ Wassell Engineering Ltd has been producing exhaust system components for vintage British motorcycles employing traditional handmade methods used originally to maintain authenticity.

This set of unbalanced exhaust pipes were specified for the 1965-1968 Triumph 650 twin-cylinder road-going models. They can be fitted to 1969 and 1970 models when an unbalanced exhaust system is desired. May also be suitable fitment for earlier unit-construction 650 twins when compatible silencers and mounting brackets are fitted. While the exhaust pipes are finished to a high standard, individually hand-crafted pipes may contain markings from manufacturing and there may be residual polish from the factory that can be buffed out to a nice lustre.

Manufactured in the UK to exacting specifications by TJ Wassell, these exhaust headers are chrome plated and have the mounting tabs in the correct position between the two bends. The flanged cups measure 1-3/4″ OD to fit over 1-5/8″ exhaust spigots at the cylinder head. The OD of the header pipes measures 1-1/2″ at the terminus of the pipes.

Properly fitting exhaust pipes ensure leak-free expulsion of exhaust gases from the cylinder head. There are fixed mounting tabs on each exhaust pipe to secure “L”-shaped mounting brackets to the extended front crankcase stud.

Each exhaust pipe is fitted over an exhaust port stub and retained with a finned clamp. When fitting the mounting brackets and silencers, it is advisable to leave all of the fasteners slightly loose to allow for alignment adjustments prior to tightening the fasteners and clamps.

Please note: Due to varying bans on the use of hexavalent chrome in the chroming process, this item will have varying appearance different than OEM standards. Chromers are frequently using trivalent in their processes. “It’s just not the same color. Hexavalent has that clear blue sheen, but trivalent is more grayish and smoky. Trivalent will not replace the look of hexavalent.”
