Dating back to 1976, TJ Wassell Engineering Ltd has been producing exhaust system components for vintage British motorcycles employing traditional handmade methods used originally to maintain authenticity. This set of high-level slash cut exhaust pipes were specified for the 1967-1968 Triumph T100C 500 twins and they exit on the left side. May also be suitable fitment for earlier and later unit-construction 500 twins, although custom fitting may be required. While the exhaust pipes are finished to a high standard, individually hand-crafted pipes may contain markings from manufacturing and there may be residual polish from the factory that can be buffed out to a high lustre.
The chrome-plated header pipes feature slash-cut ends and are supplied with integrated mounted stays. The full-length OD is 1-3/8″, with push-over cups measuring 1-5/8″ to fit over 1-1/2″ exhaust spigots. Made by TJ Wassell in the UK.
The earlier unit-constructiion T100C exhaust system uses a series of unique brackets and hardware pieces, and heat shields are often fitted for leg protection. If silencers are desired, they can be fit to the exhaust header pipes, but it may require shortening of the slash-cut ends.
Due to the mounting arrangement, it is recommended that the entire exhaust system is loosely fitted to allow for final alignment corrections prior to tightening up the fasteners.
Please note: Due to varying bans on the use of hexavalent chrome in the chroming process, this item will have varying appearance different than OEM standards. Chromers are frequently using trivalent in their processes. “It’s just not the same color. Hexavalent has that clear blue sheen, but trivalent is more grayish and smoky. Trivalent will not replace the look of hexavalent.”
