Dating back to 1976, TJ Wassell Engineering Ltd has been producing exhaust system components for vintage British motorcycles employing traditional handmade methods used originally to maintain authenticity.

This set of silencers are specified by part numbers for the early unit-construction Triumph 350 and 500 models from 1961-1963, but may also be suitable fitment for some earlier models from 1958, as well as some later models. While the silencers are finished to a high standard, individually hand-crafted exhaust pipes and silencers may contain markings from manufacturing and there may be residual polish from the factory that can be buffed out to a high lustre.

Finished in chrome-plating, these silencers feature the classic Triumph “teardrop” shape and have an inlet ID of 1-1/2″ and an overall length of approximately 22″ with integrated welded-on mounting stays. Made in the UK by TJ Wassell.

The silencer inlets are fitted over the 1-1/2″ ends of the exhaust header pipes and attached with clamps. The internal resonators are packed with sound-muting material to offer a throaty sound and less restrictive exhaust system.

The inlets of the silencers fit over the ends of the exhaust pipes and are secured with 1-5/8″ clamps. The integrated mounting stay on each silencer allows for direct attachment to each footrest support. It is advisable to loosen the exhaust system while fitting the silencers to allow for alignment adjustments prior to tightening the hardware.

Please note: Due to varying bans on the use of hexavalent chrome in the chroming process, this item will have varying appearance different than OEM standards. Chromers are frequently using trivalent in their processes. “It’s just not the same color. Hexavalent has that clear blue sheen, but trivalent is more grayish and smoky. Trivalent will not replace the look of hexavalent.”
